You will be given 3 unknowns to identify by compound name

IR and NMR spectra, complete with peak tables, as well as notebook carbons for all

Tests performed should be attached to your Qual Org report sheets

Qual Organic Schedule

Period 1 MP’s/BP’s, Solubility/Indicator Tests

Period 2 Solubility/Indicator Tests

At the end of the period, turn in a table listing unk#, MP/BP, Solubility

Data, and a list of possible unknowns from the 3 lists provided.

Periods 3-5 Spectra, Derivatives

NOTE: All spectra must be finished by the end of Period 5

Period 6 Finish all work by 2:30/10:30

Notes: Solubility /Indicator reagents are only available periods 1&2.

Spectra MUST be completed by the end of Period #6.

NMR Solvents MUST be requested through your instructor.

They have a form you must fill out and return before solvents will be made

available.

Any other tests you may wish to perform must be requested through your

instructor. These requests should be given to your instructor by the end of

Period 2. The reagents will be made available for periods 3-6.
